What are angels?
Originally, angels are said to be created by God to guide spirits and serve his followers. They pop up all throughout the Bible as protectors and saviors, often changing desperate situations for the better.
In fantasy universes, angels tend to fulfill similar roles. They often symbolize the good in the eternal fight between good and evil, battling demons by using their holy powers. Depending on the setting, angels are not necessarily the embodiment of all that is good, but instead sometimes pursue justice to such an extent that they cannot distinguish between what would be morally right or wrong.

A history of angels
Since the beginning of time, mysterious and awe-inspiring figures known as angels have been depicted in art and literature. The purpose and significance of angels—symbols of divine guidance and protection—have been the subject of debate, investigation, and reverence for generations. But where exactly did these ethereal beings originate? In 2500 BC, Mesopotamia was the location of the first human-recorded encounter with angels. Shedeem were angels who served as messengers or servants of the gods during this time. These Shedeem, on the other hand, had very different appearances from modern angels; for example, they were described as having winged bulls and floating heads. A new type of angel emerged as Christianity gained popularity and time passed: a malak. These celestial beings, whose name derives from the Hebrew word mal'akh, were frequently regarded as spiritual representations of God's will and power. Malaks were frequently depicted in Christian art as carrying messages from God to the people, and they were frequently described as having wings and feathered robes. Malaks were also known as "guardian angels" because it was believed that they guided people and watched over and protected people. It wasn't until the Middle Ages (600–1500 AD) that people began to think of angels as human spiritual guardians. Angels were divided into nine angelic realms and associated with Heaven's hierarchy at this time. The highest angelic realm was reserved for those who had attained the highest level of spiritual perfection, and each realm was associated with a particular virtue. Michael (guardian of humanity) and Gabriel (guardian of the prophets) are two examples of the many angels from this era who were given specific protection roles. In many cultures around the world, belief in angels has persisted since the Middle Ages. Angels are regarded as spiritual beings who guard and safeguard believers in the Christian faith. According to Jewish custom, angels are regarded as God's representatives who are sent to inform the people of His will. Angels are regarded as Allah's obedient servants who carry out His will in the Islamic religion. Angels have remained a potent symbol of hope and divine intervention throughout human history, regardless of religion. Even though there may never be a single accepted definition of what an angel is, their influence and presence can still be seen and felt today, serving as a reminder of the eternal spirit of faith and hope.
